Ships, Docks, Pirates & The High Seas

The high seas adds another dimension to the game as you learn to build ships and engage other colonies in high stakes battles on the open sea.  Ships and docks used to launch the ships are some of the most expensive items in the game.  Even a rich colony can quickly drain their resources when a surprise attack sinks their entire fleet!  Meanwhile, pirates and sea mines lurk around every corner looking to sink your expensive ships and bring your crew of settlers to the depths of the ocean.  But sea travel has many rewards from discovering new continents to exploring and capturing tropical islands.  Some of the most valuable land in the world can only be reached by sea.  Be sure you are well prepared before taking on the challenges of the high seas!

HOW TO BUILD SHIPS:
In order to build a ship, you must be standing on a DOCK that you own and then right click in an adjacent water parcel next to the dock.  You may only build a ship if your colony can support additional ships and the resources required.  Click the STATISTICS button to see how many ships you currently have and how many ships your colony can support at this time.

CAPTURING AND SINKING ENEMY SHIPS:
While combat between ships is similar to combat on land, there are a number of unique features too.  Ships are more limited in the areas they can travel and can not cross over any obstacles.  Only 1 ship can exist on any parcel.  When a battle ends, the losing ship is sometimes too damaged from the battle and will sink.  Other times, it is in perfect shape and can be boarded by the victors and captured for themselves.  If a ship is left abandoned, any other ship passing by can board it and claim the ship for themselves.

PIRATES AND SEA MINES:
As you travel the high seas, beware of the large number of Pirates that will attack and sink your ships.  These outlaws have no mercy and will work together to sink your fleet.  Also beware of sea mines which other colonies may place in their waters to prevent your approach.
 

FISHING PLATFORMS:
Another expensive but valuable structure a colony can build in the water is a Fishing Platform.  These structures not only provide a source of food for your colony but can be used as barriers to prevent unwanted ships from entering your territory.
