Banks, Loans, Interest Rates and Bankruptcy

Nearly every town has a bank where you can go to request a loan, open a savings account or declare bankruptcy if the need ever arose.  Every bank in the world of Land Grab TM is a unique institution that sets its own savings and loan rates and determines its own banking policies.  Whether you are borrowing money or depositing your hard-earned gold into a savings account, it is important to shop around for a bank offering good rates.

LOANS:
When you borrow money from a bank, your balance will accrue interest at the posted rate.  All rates will gradually change over time.  Each bank will determine the amount they are willing to loan you.  If one bank won't loan you money, another possibly will.  You may never take more than one loan every 30 minutes regardless of which bank you go to.  All banks require minimum payments to be made periodically on loans.  They will notify you when a minimum payment is required.  These wild west bankers have ways to collect from colonies who forget to pay them back!

SAVINGS ACCOUNTS:
When you have excess gold laying around, consider opening a savings account at your local bank.  The bank will pay you the currently posted interest rate (which changes regularly).  In addition, each colony is only able to hold 10,000 gp in their colony.  The bank allows you to store an unlimited amount.

DECLARING BANKRUPTCY:
If you become hopelessly in debt and can't seem to get ahead, you may visit your local bank and declare bankruptcy.  If they agree that your situation is grave, they will file your bankruptcy papers which will erase all of your debts at all financial institutions and cause all of your land, resources, settlers and other possessions to be forfeited.  Your slate will be wiped clean and you will be allowed to start over.  You may only declare bankruptcy once per day.
